Children and adults (ages three and up) with intellectual/developmental disabilities can make gains from Positive Behavioral Support.

Meet Dr. Farrah Golmaryami, PhD, BCBA

Dr. Golmaryami offers psychological services through Developmental Disabilities Community Services at JPHSA. She has experience helping people build on strengths to decrease challenging behaviors and learn new skills.

  • Promotes expression using gestures, sounds, & words, building a foundation for more complex communication>

Play & Social Skills

  • Teaches sharing, taking turns, making/keeping friendships, reading social cues, & handling conflict

Toileting Skills

  • Improves daytime urinary & bowel continence & toileting independence

Feeding Skills

  • Increases range of accepted foods & decreases challenging behaviors such as “picky eating”

Sleeping Skills

  • Targets problems falling asleep, staying asleep, & refusing to sleep in own bed

Challenging Behaviors

  • Addresses tantrums, aggression, self-injurious behavior, & noncompliance

Self-help Skills & Independent Living

  • Improves skills related to feeding, grooming, dressing, helping others, time management, completing school or work responsibilities, transportation, & community health & safety

Life Skills

  • Increases tolerance for difficult situations, coping with negative feelings, & addresses avoidance of fears & anxieties
